Bunca's Ham Loaf

My maternal grandmother's recipe for ham loaf is made using 75% ground ham and 25% ground fresh pork. The loaf is topped with a sweet and sour sauce made with brown sugar, vinegar, and mustard.

Ham Loaf Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 1-1/2 pound of ground ham (fully cookd)
- 1/2 pound of ground pork (raw)

Glaze Ingredients
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup of cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground mustard
- 2 tablespoons of water

Optional Sauces
Serve with Cold Horseradish Sour Cream Sauce and Hot Spiced Raisin Sauce if desired.

Ham Loaf Instructions
Beat the eggs in a large bowl then add in the rest of the loaf ingredients and mix well. In a shallow baking pan, shape the mixture into a loaf. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Combine all of the glaze ingredients and after the first 30 minutes of cooking time, spoon the glaze over the ham loaf and bake an additional 40 minutes, basting with the glaze a few times. The pork in the ham loaf will be thoroughly when a meat thermometer inserted in the center reaches 170 degrees F.
